UWCT – Qualifier 17th-19th May 2013
RACE REGULATIONS CRETAN CYCLING CHALLENGE
The company ‘Sports Promotion Hellas’ with the support of the Hellenic Cycling Federation, the Municipal of Chania and Platanias, are in the pleasure to announce the holding of a qualifier of UWCT event, on May 17th to 19th. The races will be held under the UCI and Hellenic Cycling Federation regulations. The first race it is a ITT 21,5 km long and a RR 118 km long. The event will offer results in different age groups. The age groups will be as follows: 16-29 Challenger Class. Additionally, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+ both women and men. At the end of each race the first 25% athletes of each age group, will be awarded with a guaranteed entry to the 2013 Final and will be able to race for the World Champion title. Participation rights Riders can start with:- Day license according to the regulations of the National Federation.
- An elite license with exception of:
- Any rider who has during the current year been a member of a team registered with the UCI.
- Any rider who has taken part in a world championships, the Olympic games, continental championships or games, regional games, the Commonwealth games, or a World Cup during the current year, other than events for masters.
- Any rider who scored UCI points in 2013.
TYPES OF COURSES
I. CRETAN CYCLING CHALLENGE ITT
Date: On Friday 17th of May Distance: 21,5 km Start: 16:00 Site: Varipetro-‘Limnoupolis Water Park’ Race Features: Riders start every 1 minute. During the race riders must respect the UCI regulations. The participants must not use timekeeping chips. All bikes will be measured 15’ before the start time. According to UCI rules, athletes are not allowed to have their own technical support, escort! The participation rights for the UWCT Final Time Trial will only be given in the time trial qualifier.II. CRETAN NIGHT CRITERIUM
On Saturday, 18.05.2013 before the road race event on Sunday, a Night Criterium on Pista Park will be organized. Only cyclists with an elite or junior licence and registration for the road race can participate. There are no registration fees for this race, but on the other hand, there will be special prizes. Reservations will be accepted until the 15th May to registration@sphellas.com. A registration is only valid with a copy of the licence and the registration number of the road race on Sunday.

Date: 19th of May Distance: 118 km Start: 10:00 Site: Varipetro-Limnoupolis Water Park Race Features: The course is 59 km long (a lap). 22 of these kms range within several short hills and grades. The course map can be accessed through the official website, www.sphellas.com. According to UCI rules, athletes are not allowed to have their own technical support, escort!IV. CRETAN CYCLING CHALLENGE Experience
Date: 19th of May Distance: 59 km Start: 10:00 Site: Varipetro-Limnoupolis Water Park Race Features: The course is 59 km (1 lap). 22 of these kms range within several short hills and grades. The course map can be accessed through the official website, www.sphellas.com It is important to note that for riders of this category registration simultaneously guarantees medical efficiency. The use of helmet is obligatory. According to UCI rules, athletes are not allowed to have their own technical support, escort!V. VENIZELEIA CIRCUIT
Date: 20th of May circuit for all categories of riders. Start: 16:00 Chania centre Andrea Papandreou Av. next to the national Stadium of the town.
PARTICIPATION FEES
I. CRETAN CYCLING CHALLENGE ITT
The participation fee is 35€, if you register before 30th of April. From the 01th of May registration fee is 50€, respectively. The amount include third part insurance, race guide, electronic cover, gifts, special jersey of the winner for each category to the award ceremony, race numbers, feed zones, bike locking area, food courts after the finish line, mechanical assistance, recycling, showers free and in accordance to the UCI wishes, a separate WC for women in the water park area, safety and medical assistance, free entrance for the participants and their families in the water park, with more than 50% reduction in case of rides use.ΙΙ.
