All amateur cyclists have the chance now to become a World Champion!

Sports Promotion Hellas" has been awarded by the UCI with the honour to host a European qualification race of the UCI World Cycling Tour 2012, which will take place on the island of Crete from the 25.05.2012-27.05.2012. The event has been named "Cretan Cycling Challenge".

"The event gives everybody the chance to enjoy both the sea view and the Cretan countryside, while crossing through olive, orange, plane and chestnut trees. Cyclists from all over the world are welcome to participate in this important international race.

At the same time, we are offered the opportunity to show everyone that the most southern spot in Europe, the island of Crete, is the perfect place for cycling goers! Register for the UCI qualifier events Time Trial on the 25th of May and the Road Race on the 27th of May.

Two more races will be held: The “Challenge experience” (59km) and the “Young Challenge” (race for kids within the age groups from 5-12 years). Don’t miss the chance to register for your race and grab the chance to become a World Champion or just enjoy the “Challenge Experience” or our “Young Challenge”!

Steffen Wesemann will participate in the UCI World Cycling Tour 2012 in Crete and two training camps will be organized by him

Steffen Wesemann was a professional rider for 16 years and most of the time he was a member of the historic Telekom and T-Mobile Team. During his career he has won 47 races! His peak success was the victory of the “Tour of Flanders 2004” and his 5 overall victories in the Peace Race! Steffen knows professional cycling better than anyone else. We are honoured to welcome him in the UCI World Cycling Tour 2012 in Crete.

Before and after the UCI World Cycling Tour 2012 we will organize two training camps with Steffen in Chania, Crete: 18.05.2012-27.05.2012 and 24.05.2012 - 02.06.2012. All participants can also take part in the race. Registration for the camps starts here on the 15.10.2011. The number of participants will be limited.   

Training Camps in Winter

Except for the organization of international sports events, we also start in winter 2012/2013 to offer cycling holidays  on Crete to athletes of all categories, especially during the high cycling training season, which is from February until May. We can arrange your entire stay, whether it is the booking of your flight or your carefully selected accommodation. During your stay, our ‘team’ will provide you with all services: Bike rental, cycling routes with coaches, wellness etc.

It should be pointed out that we always offer special entertainment programs (excursions, entertainment in the evening) for the athletes’ friends and families. Enjoy the new paradise for cyclists, tri-athletes and their friends & families! Crete is the place to be! In Winter 2011/2012 we already offer individually planned cycling holidays on Crete, i.e. in our "Cycling Villas" in Rethymno. We would also like to inform about our partnership with www.crete-cycling.com, a company which offers training camps  from the beginning of March 2012 in Southern Crete.

GOLDEN BEACH LEAGUE - INTERNATIONAL CRETAN BEACH RUNNING     The idea of the sport event is to create an international running event, which gives all runners the chance to join each month during the season (April-October) a running event on another beach of Greece’s biggest island.  Sports Promotion Hellas and the local communities want to promote the wonderful beaches of Crete in this way.  The “Golden Beach League” is a part of the new sports tourism on the island and the goal is to organize this league every year with more and more runners from other countries .
